Ventilation system for the tower section of the older Käina factory

We built a fan-based ventilation solution for part of the tower and added to it — as is our custom — smart automation that controls the fans' operation based on the internal temperature.

Ventilation system for the tower section of the older Käina factory

The project challenge

In the production of plastic bags, the machines generate a great deal of heat, putting pressure on both human well-being and equipment performance. The specifics of the process require a tall space, which is why a "tower" has been built onto the older part of the production area, where most of the heat accumulates. Managing precisely this heat load was the core of the task.

How we built it

We built a fan-based ventilation solution for the tower section and added — as is our custom — smart automation that controls the operation of the fans based on the indoor temperature.

  • A fan-based ventilation system for the tower section where heat accumulates
  • Automation that controls fan operation based on the indoor temperature
  • The option to choose whether the fans extract air from the building or push fresh air in

What we achieved

  • As a result of testing carried out in hot summer weather, the indoor air in the production area is good
  • Reduced thermal load supports both employee well-being and equipment performance
  • Flexible control: the client can choose between extracting air out or pushing fresh air in
  • Automatic, temperature-based operation ensures ventilation exactly when it is needed

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How is the operation of the fans controlled?
The fans are controlled by smart automation based on the indoor temperature, ensuring ventilation exactly when it is needed.
Can the system both extract air and push in fresh air?
Yes, the solution lets you choose whether the fans extract air from the building or push fresh air in.
What problem does this solution solve?
It manages the significant heat load generated during plastic bag production, which accumulates in the building's "tower" section and puts pressure on both worker wellbeing and equipment performance.
Has the solution been tested in real conditions?
Yes, the system was tested in hot summer weather and the indoor air in the production area remained good.
Where was the ventilation solution installed?
The fan-based ventilation system was built into the "tower" section of the older production area, where most of the heat accumulates.
