Variant selection – which KERN is right for you? KERN-EX1/21 – higher-risk explosive environments: paint and lacquer booths, solvent storage areas (ATEX Zone 1 = vapours present regularly; Zone 21 = dust present regularly). Use it when the luminaire is installed directly in a paint booth or a similar high-risk space.

KERN-EX2/21 – lower-risk environments: powder coating lines, chemical industry auxiliary rooms, storage areas (ATEX Zone 2 = vapours present only rarely and briefly; Zone 21 = dust present regularly). Also suitable for emergency lighting thanks to the magnetic switch option.
