KERN – compact LED Ex luminaire for ATEX zones 1/21 and 2/21

KERN is a compact industrial LED Ex luminaire in a polycarbonate (PC) housing, designed for use in explosive atmospheres in both gas and dust hazard zones. KERN is available in two ATEX variants as a single product family: KERN-EX1/21 for higher-risk Zone 1/21 environments (e.g. painting and lacquering booths, solvent storage) and KERN-EX2/21 for lower-risk Zone 2/21 environments (e.g. powder coating lines, auxiliary rooms in the chemical industry). KERN is a compact-sized (195 × 122 mm) linear-form LED luminaire whose durable PC housing (RAL 7035) and UV-stable opal PC cover ensure long service life and a uniform light field. The luminaire is designed for both ceiling and wall mounting and is also suitable for suspension. A dimming option is available, and the Zone 2/21 version offers a variant with a special magnetic switch that allows the emergency function to be tested without opening the luminaire. KERN is the ideal compact solution where EXTEND or EXTRA linear luminaires would be too large – e.g. for lighting low rooms, staircases, narrow passageways, ventilation shafts or smaller technical rooms in explosive atmospheres.
