An air humidity conditioning chamber (also known as a climate chamber or humidity conditioning cabinet) is an industrial testing device that enables precise regulation of temperature and air humidity for testing products, materials and components.
The device simulates real-world environmental conditions in which the product will later be used — from dry warehouse air to tropical humidity and elevated temperatures. Climate chambers are indispensable in product development, quality assurance and research.
They help research chemists, development engineers and quality managers ensure that the final product is preserved and operates reliably in its target environment.
Applications
C&W climate chambers are designed to meet the environmental testing requirements of the following industries: paint industry, plastics, packaging and cardboard industry, paper industry, electronics, automotive industry, aerospace industry, military, textile industry and telecommunications.
Standard equipment and features
Control: microprocessor controller, up to 7 storable test programmes Temperature sensor: NTC sensor Humidity sensor: capacitive RH sensor with micro-membrane filter Humidification system: steam generator and variable-speed peristaltic pump Water: deionised, with separate reservoir Air circulation: forced, with fan Alarms: audible signal in
case of low water level Loading: via a top-opening hatch
Available models
C&W air humidity conditioning chambers are available in capacities of 200, 450, 750, 1000 and 2000 litres. Standard power supply: 380 V / 50 Hz / 3-phase.
Design and ease of use
The climate chamber features a clean functional design and low maintenance requirements. The internal capacity is used to the maximum and the test space is accessed via a top-opening hatch. Robust insulation ensures fast recovery time after temperature and humidity changes and a short conditioning time.
The steam generator provides direct and precise humidification without the formation of condensate in the test space.
Typical test types
Constant humidity and temperature test Cyclic humidity/temperature test Long-term product shelf-life test Material ageing test in a controlled climate Electronics humidity resistance test
Frequently asked questions
What is an air humidity conditioning chamber?
An air humidity conditioning chamber, or climate chamber, is an industrial testing device that enables precise regulation and maintenance of the desired temperature and air humidity level. It is used for testing products, materials and components under various climatic conditions.
What is a climate chamber used for?
A climate chamber is used for temperature and humidity testing in product development, quality control and research. Typical applications include durability testing of electronic components, packaging shelf-life tests, ageing tests of paints and plastics, and humidity tests in the paper industry.
How does a climate chamber differ from a cyclic corrosion test chamber?
A climate chamber is intended primarily for precise regulation of temperature and air humidity without salt spray. A cyclic corrosion test chamber (CCT) adds salt spray and drying cycles to these conditions in order to simulate a corrosive environment.
How many programmes can be stored in a climate chamber?
Up to 7 different testing programmes can be stored in the microprocessor controller. Each programme may contain different combinations of temperature and humidity with the desired duration.
What kind of water does a climate chamber use?
The device uses deionised water, which is supplied to the humidification system via a peristaltic pump and a flow meter. This ensures clean steam and a longer service life for the device.
Which models are available?
C&W air humidity conditioning chambers are available in five capacities: 200, 450, 750, 1000 and 2000 litres. The choice depends on the size of the products to be tested and the volume of test quantities.
