Cyclic Corrosion Test Chambers
Cyclic corrosion test chambers (CCT), also known as the C&W Cyclic Corrosion Cabinet, are industrial testing systems for precise environmental testing: salt spray, humidity up to 98%, and temperatures up to 70°C.
Cyclic Corrosion Test chambers (CCT), also known as the C&W Cyclic Corrosion Cabinet, are industrial testing devices designed to provide accurate and repeatable environmental test conditions. They are essential for evaluating the corrosion resistance of materials, coatings, and components in the automotive, electronics, paint, aerospace, military,
and offshore industries. Unlike a standard salt spray test, the CCT cabinet enables automatic switching between different test conditions — salt spray, high humidity, dry heat, and drying cycles — thereby providing a more realistic simulation of actual operating conditions.
Robust and durable construction C&W CCT chambers are made from corrosion-resistant materials. The reinforced fibreglass-reinforced polyester lid (Apex series) withstands both chemicals and temperature fluctuations. The ergonomic control panel and gas-spring-assisted composite lids ensure convenient daily operation.
The entire construction of the unit is corrosion-resistant.
Test modes and capabilities The CCT cabinet offers a full range of test conditions:
Salt spray / salt fog — compliant with ASTM B117, ISO 9227 Humidity — up to 98% RH, constant or cyclic Dry heat — up to 70 °C Ambient temperature — up to 55 °C ±1 °C Air purge cycle and forced drying Special modes: cyclic Prohesion®, CASS, salt fog, humidity
Precise control and traceability The microprocessor controller accommodates up to 7 programs with unlimited event entries. The salt solution flow rate is controlled by a variable-speed peristaltic pump and flow meter — precise collection rates, zero nozzle clogging.
The digital display allows adjustment of water temperature and real-time monitoring of test progress.
Fields of application Automotive industry, paint and powder coating industry, electronics industry, aerospace industry, military, offshore industry, packaging industry, plastics industry.
Frequently asked questions
What is a cyclic corrosion test (CCT)? A cyclic corrosion test is a testing method that simulates real-world environmental conditions in alternation: salt spray, high humidity, dry heat, and ambient temperature. Unlike a standard salt spray test, CCT provides a more realistic picture of a material's corrosion behaviour in actual use.
Which standards do CCT chambers comply with? The devices comply with the international standards ASTM B117, ISO 9227, as well as the Prohesion® and CASS test methods. The user can combine different cycles in any order using the programmable logic controller.
How does a CCT cabinet differ from a standard salt spray cabinet? A standard salt spray cabinet provides a single constant test condition. The CCT cabinet enables automatic switching between modes: salt spray, 98% RH, dry heat up to 70 °C, and forced drying — providing a more accurate simulation of real conditions.
How many programs can be stored in the CCT cabinet? Up to 7 programs with unlimited event entries can be stored in the microprocessor controller. Each program may contain different test conditions and durations in any order.
