Creating Ventilation for the Blasting Room

For forestry equipment manufacturer Ferrel, we added a standalone filter unit to the existing shot blasting room, which ventilates the room air and cleans it of the dust generated during shot blasting. In this way, a function that is usually incorporated from the outset in new shot blasting rooms was successfully added to an old working environment.

Creating Ventilation for the Blasting Room

Project challenge

When using a sandblaster or shot blaster, the cleaning process generates a large amount of dust that circulates around the room at high speed. For new shot blasting rooms, the ventilation and filtration function is generally factored in from the outset, but for an existing, already operational shot blasting room this is often absent.

How we built it

We solved the problem with a standalone filter unit that ventilates the room air and cleans it of dust. This made it possible to successfully add the required function to an already-in-use shot blasting room without completely rebuilding it.

What we achieved

The shot blasting room's ventilation problem was solved The dusty working environment became cleaner and healthier Proof that a filtration and ventilation function can also be successfully retrofitted into an existing shot blasting room

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can a ventilation and filtration solution be added to an already operational shot blasting room?
Yes. With this project we proved that a filtration and ventilation function can be successfully retrofitted into an existing shot blasting room without completely rebuilding it.
How did you solve the dust problem in the shot blasting room?
We added a standalone filter unit to the existing room, which ventilates the room's air and cleans it of the dust generated during blasting.
Why do existing shot blasting rooms often lack ventilation?
For new shot blasting rooms the ventilation and filtration function is usually built in from the start, but for already operational existing rooms it is often missing.
What was the result of the solution for the work environment?
The ventilation problem in the shot blasting room was solved, and the dusty work environment became cleaner and healthier.
Did the room have to be completely rebuilt for the solution?
No. The standalone filter unit made it possible to add the needed function to the already-in-use shot blasting room without completely rebuilding it.
