Fine paper dust extraction and filtration solution

At Räpina Paper Mill, we resolved the extraction of fine dust generated during paper cutting and the filtration of the air. We installed a GRAM ACF type ATEX cyclone filter together with a Hörbiger explosion suppression valve and designed a special extraction hood that moves along with the paper roll and is removable during loading. The solution ensured the safety of the working environment and improved production efficiency.

Project challenge

The main task was to create a dust extraction system that could cope with the specific characteristics arising from the machine's operating nature. Added complexity came from the need to integrate the system so that it would move together with the paper roll and the extraction system could be removed from the working area during loading.

How we built the solution

We selected a GRAM ACF type ATEX cyclone filter, which we complemented with a Hörbiger valve required for indoor conditions. In the event of an explosion, this valve suppresses the flames, ensuring the safety of people in the vicinity. We designed an extraction hood specifically for this machine and installed the necessary ductwork for the seamless operation of the system.
