Woodman spraying automat energy-efficient compensating ventilation

At the Woodman wood processing production facility, we installed an energy-efficient compensating ventilation system for a traverse-equipped automated spraying unit. The solution reuses the energy from the exhaust air of the finishing machine by means of a plate heat exchanger and water-based heating, and pumps the heated clean air back into production. A room pressure sensor keeps the environment in balance by compensating for the vacuum created by the spraying unit. As solvent-based finishing materials are used, the equipment is ATEX-certified.

Woodman spraying automat energy-efficient compensating ventilation

Project challenge

The automatic spray machine creates a vacuum in the production room, which must be compensated with fresh air while maintaining the pressure balance of the plant environment. Since solvent-based finishing materials are used, the entire equipment had to comply with explosion safety requirements.

How we built the solution

The solution utilises the thermal energy of the air exhausted from the automatic spray machine and directs the heated clean air back into production. The system keeps the plant environment in balance and ensures that the vacuum created by the automatic spray machine is compensated.

  • plate heat exchanger for recovering heat from the exhaust air
  • water heating supplementary heating for the clean supply air
  • room pressure sensor for monitoring the environmental balance
  • ATEX-certified equipment due to solvent-based materials

Automation

The room pressure sensor controls the system automatically, continuously monitoring the pressure of the production room and compensating for the vacuum created by the automatic spray machine using the installed equipment.

Result

Woodman received energy-efficient compensating ventilation for the automatic spray machine with traverses, which recovers the heat from the exhaust air and keeps the production room's pressure in balance. The solution ensures a safe and balanced environment under faster finishing conditions.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How is the vacuum created by the spraying automat compensated?
The system supplies heated clean fresh air back into production, controlled by a room pressure sensor. This compensates the vacuum created by the spraying automat and keeps the production room in pressure balance.
Is the solution safe when using solvent-based finishing materials?
Yes, because solvent-based finishing materials are used, the entire equipment is ATEX-certified and meets explosion safety requirements.
How is energy saving achieved in this ventilation solution?
The system uses a plate heat exchanger to recover heat from the exhaust air and water heating as additional heating for the clean supply air. This way the thermal energy of the air blown out from the spraying automat is reused.
How is the factory environment kept in pressure balance?
A room pressure sensor continuously monitors the production room pressure and controls the system automatically. This compensates the vacuum and keeps the environment balanced.
What result did this solution deliver for Woodman?
Woodman received an energy-efficient compensating ventilation for the traverse spraying automat that reuses exhaust air heat and keeps the production room in pressure balance. The solution ensures a safe and balanced environment under faster finishing conditions.
