Heat energy recovery from paint lines
We installed a heat recovery ventilation unit on one of the spraying lines at Harviker OÜ's furniture factory, capturing thermal energy from the air exhausted by the finishing machine and drying oven and using it to preheat the supply air. The system operates automatically, monitoring the volume of exhausted air and the vacuum in the factory with pressure sensors. In addition, we assisted in setting up the drying oven previously procured by the client and carried out the installation and connection of the heating water pipelines.


Project challenge
The large air volumes of the finishing machines are directed outdoors, which creates a significant vacuum in the factory, and the air returned to the space in turn requires heating. The growing green mindset and rising energy prices were the reasons for the decision to invest in a heat recovery system.
How we built the solution
We installed a ventilation unit with heat recovery on one spraying line, whose task is to capture and utilize the thermal energy from the exhaust air. In this project, we use the energy to preheat the supply air.

Automation and remote management
In order for the system to operate automatically, the automation monitors the volume of exhaust air and the vacuum in the factory using pressure sensors.
Result
The thermal energy captured from the exhaust air of the finishing line is used to preheat the supply air, which reduces energy consumption and supports the client's green mindset. In addition, with our help, the client set up the previously acquired drying oven together with the heating water pipelines.

We supplied a woodworking company with an ATEX-rated ventilation unit with an air volume of 24,000 m3/h, which serves the existing MAKOR oven and recovers thermal energy by means of a plate heat exchanger. The unit compensates the factory air and ensures a better indoor climate in production. As the oven operates in two modes, pressure control was added to manage both the oven operating mode and the internal production conditions.
