Welding Ventilation

A push-pull ventilation system was installed in the welding booths with the aim of improving working air quality and ensuring efficient removal of welding fumes. The solution utilised a welding filter system from the Danish manufacturer Gram Clean Air, equipped with automatic filter cleaning to maintain reliability and reduce maintenance requirements. As a result, the air quality in the welding areas improved significantly, the spread of welding fumes was reduced, and working conditions became safer and more comfortable for employees.

Project challenge

The welding booths of Lisako OÜ required significant improvement of the workplace air quality and effective removal of welding fumes. The challenge was to direct contaminants away from the work area in a controlled manner, reducing workers' exposure to welding fumes. The solution had to be reliable and capable of handling the daily load of industrial conditions.

How we built it

At the heart of the solution we chose a push-pull ventilation system, which creates a controlled airflow in the welding area – air is blown in on one side, while the fumes and particles are effectively extracted on the other.

  • We used the Gram Clean Air welding filter system from the Danish manufacturer, designed for the removal of fumes and particles generated during industrial welding processes
  • We integrated the filter system with the push-pull ventilation solution, ensuring effective air movement throughout the welding area
  • The system was equipped with automatic filter cleaning, which maintains the reliability of the equipment and reduces the need for regular maintenance

What we achieved

  • Significantly improved air quality in the welding areas
  • Effective removal of welding fumes with the push-pull system and reduced spread of fumes in the work environment
  • Safer and more comfortable working conditions for employees
  • Automatic filter cleaning, which keeps the system's performance stable and reduces downtime due to maintenance work
  • A reliable ventilation solution that withstands industrial conditions

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

On what principle does the welding ventilation system work?
The system works on the push-pull principle, where air is blown in from one side and welding smoke together with particles is effectively extracted from the other. This directs pollutants away from the work area in a controlled manner.
What filter system was used in the solution?
We used the Danish manufacturer Gram Clean Air welding filter system, which is designed to remove smoke and particles generated during industrial welding processes.
How much maintenance does the system require?
The system is equipped with automatic filter cleaning, which maintains the equipment's reliability and reduces the need for regular maintenance. This keeps performance stable and reduces downtime for maintenance work.
What results did the system provide in the work environment?
The result was significantly better air quality in welding areas, effective welding smoke removal and reduced smoke spread in the work environment. This led to safer and more comfortable working conditions for employees.
Is the solution suitable for industrial conditions?
Yes, it is a reliable ventilation solution that withstands industrial conditions and handles daily load. The system was built in 2025 in Lisako OÜ's welding booths.

Welding hall ventilation solution with smart remote management

We built a push-pull general ventilation system for the welding hall with two separately controlled zones, ensuring a total air circulation of up to 60,000 m³/h (the requirement was ≥45,000 m³/h) and over 10,000 m³/h of fresh air. We installed two GRAM 364DH double cyclones with 45 kW fans and a C.I.C Jan Hrebec plate heat exchanger with water heating, which reduces heating demand. Compliance of air quality with health protection limit values was confirmed by measurements carried out together with the Health Board, and the entire system is controlled by a single control panel with real-time remote management.

Push-Pull welding ventilation for a metal production hall in Saue

At a metalworking company's production hall in Saue, we solved the blue welding fume problem using the Push-Pull method, as the use of welding arms was not possible due to the large components and continuous crane operation. We installed an FL series filter with GRAM welding cartridges, prepared a 3D piping installation drawing, and carried out the installation. The filtered air is directed into the hall from floor level, and the welding fumes are extracted from above the workstation, beneath the ceiling.

Factory Welding Workshop Push-Pull Ventilation

We upgraded the ventilation of the manual welding stations at Sami Tootmine's Valga factory in two areas, each with 10 workstations. We installed cyclone filters together with fans from the Danish manufacturer Gram Clean Air and designed a push-pull ventilation system with air calculations. We integrated automation that activates the filter system only when welding is actually taking place, ensuring energy savings and a clean working environment. In addition, we helped find a suitable welding filter for the robotic welding area.
