Push-Pull welding ventilation for the metal industry
We designed a unified PUSH/PULL ventilation system for the metal manufacturer's area with four simultaneously operating welding stations, which removes welding fumes and gases without disrupting the production process and maintains crane accessibility. For air filtration, we installed the Danish manufacturer's GRAM FL Plug & Play filter unit, which ensures controlled airflow and effective welding fume cleaning throughout the entire work area.

Project challenge
The client's production facility features four welding stations where welding fumes are generated during work. All welding stations typically operate simultaneously, which required ensuring fume extraction across the entire area. An additional requirement was to maintain crane accessibility across the entire welding area, which limited the use of local extraction solutions.
How we built it
We designed a unified PUSH/PULL ventilation system for the entire area that directs air in a controlled manner and removes fumes and gases without disrupting the production process. For air filtration, we installed a reliable GRAM FL Plug & Play filter unit from a Danish manufacturer, which ensures controlled air movement throughout the working area.
- PUSH/PULL ventilation system for the entire welding area
- GRAM FL filter unit (Danish manufacturer)
- Plug & Play solution – quick to install and ready for immediate use
What we achieved
- Effective welding fume cleaning across the entire working area
- Controlled air movement based on the PUSH/PULL principle
- Functions with all four welding stations in simultaneous use
- No disruption to the production process
- Crane access to the entire welding area has been preserved

Welding hall ventilation solution with smart remote management
We built a push-pull general ventilation system for the welding hall with two separately controlled zones, ensuring a total air circulation of up to 60,000 m³/h (the requirement was ≥45,000 m³/h) and over 10,000 m³/h of fresh air. We installed two GRAM 364DH double cyclones with 45 kW fans and a C.I.C Jan Hrebec plate heat exchanger with water heating, which reduces heating demand. Compliance of air quality with health protection limit values was confirmed by measurements carried out together with the Health Board, and the entire system is controlled by a single control panel with real-time remote management.
Push-Pull welding ventilation for a metal production hall in Saue
At a metalworking company's production hall in Saue, we solved the blue welding fume problem using the Push-Pull method, as the use of welding arms was not possible due to the large components and continuous crane operation. We installed an FL series filter with GRAM welding cartridges, prepared a 3D piping installation drawing, and carried out the installation. The filtered air is directed into the hall from floor level, and the welding fumes are extracted from above the workstation, beneath the ceiling.
Factory Welding Workshop Push-Pull Ventilation
We upgraded the ventilation of the manual welding stations at Sami Tootmine's Valga factory in two areas, each with 10 workstations. We installed cyclone filters together with fans from the Danish manufacturer Gram Clean Air and designed a push-pull ventilation system with air calculations. We integrated automation that activates the filter system only when welding is actually taking place, ensuring energy savings and a clean working environment. In addition, we helped find a suitable welding filter for the robotic welding area.
