Static electricity neutralisation in the woodworking industry – charge reduced from 12.3 kV to below 750 V

During the treatment of wood surfaces, the static charge reached up to 12.3 kV in places, making the process uncomfortable and unsafe for workers. We installed two iONstream 4.0 neutralisation units – one for the lower surface and another for the upper surface. As a result, the charge dropped to a range of 400–750 V, creating a safe and stable working environment for the staff.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much did the static charge decrease after the solution was installed?
The static charge dropped from 12.3 kV to a range of 400–750 V. This means excess charge is removed from products as efficiently as possible.
What device was used to neutralize the static electricity?
We used two iONstream 4.0 neutralization devices – one for the lower surface and one for the upper surface. The device is equipped with a microprocessor.
How does the iONstream 4.0 device work?
The iONstream 4.0 is equipped with a microprocessor that automatically detects the charge polarity and adjusts its operation according to the situation.
Why was static electricity a problem in the woodworking industry?
The high charge generated during processing disrupted both work safety and efficiency, making the process uncomfortable and unsafe for workers. Every touch acted like a small grounding shock.
What results did the solution bring to the work environment?
A safe and stable work environment was created for workers, and the workflow became smoother and more efficient. Excess charge is removed from products as efficiently as possible.

Factory Vacuum Compensation with Ventilation Unit

We installed a water-heated ventilation unit together with control automation and a water node at the factory of window manufacturer Viljandi Aken ja Uks to compensate for the air extracted by various equipment. The system ensures air exchange at a volume of 20 000 m³/h, filters the supply air with filtration grade M5, and heats the air to a level suitable for the indoor climate.

Ventilation of the press room in the production facility

For the press room of Tarmeko LPD's new production building, we prepared the ventilation design and working drawings, supplied the equipment, and carried out the installation. Forming with the presses generates fumes, which is why we built a solution where odours are extracted from above each machine and compensated with fresh, clean air. The result is an improved working environment and more comfortable working conditions.

Extraction and filtration solution for metalworking benches serving 8 workstations

We designed and installed an extraction and filtration solution for a metalworking shop where 8 machine tools generated haze and emulsion in the air. Each machine was fitted with an OUF centrifugal oil separator and a shared GRAM CLEAN AIR filter FL 104, which returns the cleaned air back into production. The system starts based on the machine tools' signal and ensures cleaner room air and healthier working conditions.
