The paint line heat recovery system reuses the furnace's residual heat
For Scanfil's new Gema automatic paint booth, we implemented a two-stage heat recovery system together with a ventilation unit featuring cooling capability. The residual heat released from the oven, which previously went to waste, is now directed into the central heating system of the production facilities and also covers the energy requirements of the added system. According to the forecast, the investment will pay for itself in approximately five years.


Project challenge
The oven emitted a significant amount of surplus heat, which was previously released directly into the outdoor environment and wasted. At the same time, the client wanted to improve working conditions for employees and ensure a continuous supply of fresh air to the paint shop and a cooler indoor climate during the summer.
How we built it
We reached a joint decision with the client to make use of the residual heat emitted by the oven by directing it through the central heating system of the production facilities. We implemented a two-stage heat recovery system together with a ventilation unit, to which a cooling capability was also added to improve the indoor climate in summer.

The heat is directed to maintaining the temperature of the metal washing bath, to the central heating system, and to the ventilation of the paint and assembly workshop, requiring no additional energy source. The system's projected payback period is approximately **5 years**, likely even shorter due to rising energy costs.
