Industrial Fans

Industrial fans – centrifugal, axial and ATEX explosion-proof fans for production, painting lines and drying. We help you select the right model.

Industrial fans move air where standard ventilation falls short – in production halls, painting and lacquering lines, drying ovens and chemical processes. Elister supplies both general-purpose and ATEX-certified explosion-proof fans, and helps you choose the right industrial fan based on air volume, pressure and environment.

Choosing the fan type

The right industrial fan depends on two figures: how much air needs to be moved (m³/h) and how large the system's pressure loss is (Pa). The type selection is based on these:

  • Centrifugal fan (radial fan) – generates high pressure and is suitable for long ductwork, filters or scrubbers, as well as for dusty and hot air.
  • Axial fan – moves large air volumes at low pressure, suitable for general ventilation and direct duct installation.
  • ATEX fan (explosion-proof fan) – for explosive environments where solvent vapours or fine dust are present; the correct gas group, temperature class and zone are essential.

Industrial fans in our range

  • WWOax – centrifugal fan – general-purpose fan for transporting air and gases up to 500 °C, dust content up to 0.5 g/m³; carbon steel, stainless steel (1.4301) or explosion-proof version; direct, coupling or belt drive.
  • FKPa – explosion-proof centrifugal fan – compact direct-drive ATEX fan (2014/34/UE) without belt or coupling; gas groups IIA/IIB (2G) and IIA/IIB/IIC (3G), temperature classes T1–T3.
  • WOK EX – explosion-proof axial fan – duct-mounted, acid-resistant steel housing, protection class IP-54, medium temperature −15…+40 °C.
  • WB EX – explosion-proof drum-rotor fan – single-inlet centrifugal fan, gas groups IIA/IIB, temperature classes T1–T4, with test laboratory certificate.

Applications by sector

How to choose an industrial fan

  • Air volume and pressure loss – ductwork length, filters and scrubbers determine whether an axial or centrifugal fan is suitable.
  • Medium temperature – decisive for drying ovens and process air (WWOax withstands up to 500 °C).
  • Explosion risk (ATEX) – solvent vapours and fine dust require a certified explosion-proof fan; the correct gas group, temperature class and zone matter.
  • Material – stainless or acid-resistant steel for acidic or humid environments.

Common questions about this product.

Frequently asked questions

Which industrial fan suits my process?
The choice depends on the air volume (m³/h) and the system's pressure loss (Pa). A higher-pressure centrifugal fan is suitable for long ductwork, filters, or scrubbers; an axial fan is suited for high air volumes and low pressure. Send us a description of your process and we will calculate the appropriate model.
What is an ATEX fan and when is it needed?
The ATEX fan is an explosion-proof fan certified to operate in environments where solvent vapours or explosive fine dust are present (e.g. painting and lacquering lines, solvent storage facilities). The correct gas group (IIA/IIB/IIC), temperature class (T1–T4) and zone are essential. We offer the ATEX fans FKPa, WOK EX and WB EX.
What is the difference between a centrifugal and an axial fan?
The centrifugal fan (radial fan) delivers high pressure and is suitable for long ductwork, filters or scrubbers, as well as for dusty and hot air. The axial fan moves a large volume of air at low pressure and is suitable for general ventilation or for direct installation in a duct.
What temperature of hot air can an industrial fan withstand?
It depends on the model and material. For example, the WWOax centrifugal fan withstands air and gases up to 500 °C. For high temperatures, we select the material (carbon or stainless steel) and the model according to the operating environment.
Can explosion-proof fans also be made of stainless or acid-resistant steel?
Yes. For example, the WWOax is available in carbon and stainless steel (1.4301) as well as in an explosion-proof version, while the WOK EX features an acid-resistant steel housing (IP-54). The material is selected according to the environment – humidity, acidity and temperature.
Does Elister also help with selecting the fan and designing the system?
Yes. We calculate the airflow and pressure according to your process and offer a suitable industrial fan. If needed, we design the entire ventilation solution – from the fan to the air handling unit and filters.
