Automated Powder Coating Line Upgrade in 10 Days
Elister OÜ supplied and installed a new Gema automatic powder coating system with 8 OptiGun GA03 automatic guns and an OptiCenter OC08 powder center at the Scanfil Pärnu production facility. The old and outdated coating system was dismantled under confined conditions, and the new system was installed in just 10 days, although such a project typically takes approximately 2.5 weeks. Scanfil is the first company in Estonia to use the web-based GemaConnect line monitoring and analysis application.
The project challenge
The project was made complex by the need to dismantle an old and outdated coating system in confined conditions and install a new one in its place. All of this had to be completed within just 10 days, even though such a project is usually estimated to require approximately 2.5 weeks for installation alone. Previous experience with challenges of this kind provided the confidence that, with proper planning, it could be accomplished.
How we built it
We installed a Gema automatic coating system together with the necessary support solutions at the Scanfil Pärnu production facility. In addition to the Gema system, we designed and supplied operator platforms and installed new compressed air lines. All work was carried out on a tight schedule and in a limited space, which required precise coordination between dismantling and new installation.

What we achieved

"Power&Free" conveyor fully automatic powder coating line
A modern powder coating line was designed and installed for Torm Metall OÜ, enabling the washing and coating of products with dimensions of 4500 x 1000 x 1800 mm. The solution included a chamber-based 7-stage washing line with separate cabins for ferrous metal and aluminium, a combi oven, and a fully automatic "Power&Free" conveyor system. In the combi oven, the residual temperature of the curing oven is utilised in the drying oven, which increases energy efficiency.
Investment in a New Automated Powder Coating Line
We designed and installed a fully automatic powder coating line for Tammer, complete with an Aabo-Ideal gas- and electric-heated curing oven and a Gema paint booth operating 16 automatic guns. The monorail conveyor has a load capacity of 100 kg per metre. In addition, we built out the compressed air and ventilation lines. The entire installation was completed in May 2023, having started already before Midsummer.
Powder Coating Automatic Line with Power&Free Conveyor
For Sami AS, for whom we built a two-chamber liquid painting line in 2020, we established an automatic powder coating line as part of a production expansion. The solution includes a Power&Free conveyor and a tunnel-type washing automatic line that enables production analysis and future expansion. The equipment is sourced from reliable manufacturers Gema AG, Aabo-Ideal and Hjort-Conveyor.
