2K putty dosing system with ATEX equipment room

For a client in the woodworking industry, we designed and delivered a two-component putty dosing system with a separate equipment room to increase productivity. The solution continuously mixes putty and hardener and automatically doses the product directly into the putty mould using a GRACO HFR dispenser. The equipment room is equipped with ATEX lighting and automatically activated ventilation with a solvent sensor, while the material level in the tank is measured by a laser-based sensor.

Project challenge

The company's rapid growth created the need to increase productivity and to find equipment capable of handling the two-component filler in use. The equipment had to continuously mix the filler and hardener and dose the product directly into the filler mould through which the product runs. It was also necessary to design a suitable working environment for the equipment, complete with automatic ventilation and lighting.

How we built it

We designed an equipment room on a metal frame and made of Sandwich material, with interior walls of stainless material for easier cleaning. We delivered to the client the GRACO hydraulic multi-component material dispenser HFR, which continuously mixes the filler and hardener and doses the 2K filler through an automatic applicator into a casting bath, from where the product passes through the stencil. The safety of the equipment room is ensured by ventilation that starts automatically via a solvent sensor, and the material level in the bath is measured by a laser-technology-based sensor, which, if necessary, commands the equipment to dose more.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What dosing equipment is used in this solution?
We use the GRACO hydraulic multi-component dosing system HFR, which mixes filler and hardener on the fly and doses the 2K filler through an automatic applicator casting basin.
How is safety ensured in the equipment room?
Safety is ensured by ATEX lights and ventilation that starts automatically via a solvent sensor. The room is designed as a suitable working environment with automatic ventilation and lighting.
How is the material level in the casting basin monitored?
The material level in the casting basin is measured by a laser-based level sensor, which instructs the system to dose more when needed.
What material is the equipment room built from?
The equipment room is built on a metal frame with Sandwich material, and the interior walls are made of stainless material for easier cleaning.
What results does this solution enable?
The solution increases productivity through automatic dosing and ensures precise, on-the-fly mixing of the 2K filler with automatic dosing directly into the filler mold. It also provides a safe working environment and reliable level control.

Manual finishing booths with drying tunnel and pump cabinets

For a returning customer, we manufactured wider manual finishing booths with a drying tunnel as well as specialized pump cabinets for paint pumps, into which safety leak trays were integrated. The solution was designed as a 3D model according to the customer's requirements, and in addition to the booths and pump cabinets, we organized all partition walls, doors, and finishing technology. The result was a fast and seamless implementation and a satisfied customer who received exactly the solution they wanted.

Manual finishing department: two paint booths and a drying tunnel

We established a dedicated manual finishing department for a long-term client to produce custom orders. We installed two 3-metre-wide finishing booths, six finishing pumps, a drying tunnel, and in-house manufactured GRINO drying trolleys. To ensure worker safety, we added barriers and fast-opening doors that separate the finishing area from the rest of production. The new department operates flawlessly and successfully fulfils all custom orders.

Renovation of a Door Manufacturer's Finishing Workshop – MAKOR Automatic Line and Manual Finishing Booth

An automatic finishing solution, MAKOR SPRAY & DRY – M, was designed and installed for a Central Estonian door manufacturer, together with a manual finishing booth built by Elister. The heart of the finishing process consisted of GRACO PerformAA automatic paint guns with Merkur-series pumps, and the ventilation was interfaced directly with the Makor system, which detects the operating equipment and adjusts the working modes. The entire system was designed, installed and commissioned into working order precisely during the factory's collective holiday, resulting in an energy-efficient and safe finishing environment.
