Modern Ex-rated paint booths for the factory
After the fire, we established two entirely new Ex-rated painting and drying rooms at the Konesko Koeru factory – one for large products with an air exchange rate of 15000 m³/h and another for smaller products with an air exchange rate of 10000 m³/h. The rooms were equipped with Ex lighting, drying controlled by solvent sensors, and a Power&Free conveyor system. The work was carried out in two stages without interrupting daily production, restoring and enhancing the client's production capacity.

Project challenge
The objective was to establish two functional paint rooms – one for large and heavy products and the other for smaller and lighter ones. The rooms had to be equipped with drying capabilities and ensure efficient ventilation, lighting and remote control of the equipment. All equipment had to comply with Ex-rated requirements, and the work had to be carried out without interrupting daily production.
How we built the solution
The work was carried out in two stages. First, we built the paint and drying room intended for larger products, which was equipped with a powerful Ex-rated ventilation system and, with future needs in mind, also with the possibility of easily integrating a cooling function. The equipment was installed on a fire-protected metal structure, which was separated from the rest of the production area by fireproof walls. In the second stage, we focused on creating a paint room and drying tunnel intended for smaller products, using modern energy-efficient solutions.
- Paint and drying room for larger products with air exchange of 15000 m³/h
- Paint room for smaller products with air exchange of 10000 m³/h
- Ex-rated ventilation system, prepared for integration of a cooling function
- Fire-protected metal structure and fireproof partition walls
- Ex-rated hoist for lifting and moving larger products
- Ex-rated drying solution with solvent sensors and automatic airflow regulation
- Compliant Ex lighting in all rooms
- Power&Free conveyor system for fast product movement and ensuring sufficient drying time
Automation and remote management
Modern Ex-rated automation solutions ensure energy efficiency, safety and ease of use. Thanks to solvent sensors and compressed air meters, the system optimises ventilation according to need, saving resources when active painting is not taking place. The equipment was also fitted with a remote control capability.
Result
The completed solution demonstrates how a crisis can be an opportunity for innovation – production capacity was not only restored but significantly improved. Two modern Ex-rated paint rooms ensure safe, high-quality and energy-efficient production for a long time to come. The client's technical manager Gert Marmor highlighted the team's flexibility and professionalism, as well as the consideration of safety, quality and energy efficiency aspects.

Ventilation solution for a metal finishing room for a 70 m paint room
We designed a new painting area ventilation system for a metal structures manufacturing company in Harju County, in a 70 m long paint room. We installed 9 exhaust walls with filters across three work sections, along with a spark-proof fan with an air exchange rate of 15,000 m³/h. The operator can control all three sections independently using control automation based on pneumatic dampers.
New paint booth and energy-efficient drying room for the metal industry
We designed and built a completely new paint room ventilation solution for a metal industry client and upgraded the existing drying room. We used CIC Ex equipment and Konwektor fans suitable for explosive environments, and replaced the ventilation unit with a plate heat exchanger solution that improves heat recovery and reduces energy consumption. We added solvent sensors, compressed air meters, heat meters, and new automation with remote management capability. The result is a reliable, modern, and energy-efficient system that meets all applicable safety and working condition requirements.
Liquid Coating Line for the New Factory in Saue
We designed a complete liquid painting line for the new production building of the machine-building company Sami AS. The solution included two paint booths with water-heated heat exchangers, providing air exchange of 10,000 m³/h per booth, a washing booth with a Husqvarna pressure washer, and a motorized monorail conveyor with a load capacity of 16,000 kg. The line was complemented by control automation with solvent sensors, a 2K electronic mixing dosing unit, and two GRACO electrostatic spray guns.
