Fully Automated Powder Coating Line with Heat Recovery
Elister OÜ installed a fully automated powder coating line at sheet metal processor Favor's new production facility located in Looväli, accommodating products with dimensions up to 1600 x 500 x 3000 mm and weighing up to 200 kg. The line is based on equipment from Swiss manufacturer Gema (12 spray guns) and a 230-metre monorail conveyor, enabling Favor to offer clients lead times that are at least three times shorter. The five-stage gas-heated washing tunnel ensures thorough degreasing and C4-level coating durability.

The project challenge
Previously, Favor carried out powder coating work in a separate production unit and had to transport products between several factories, which meant time consumption and the risk that products could be damaged. The old technology was already outdated and no longer met the company's needs. A more thoughtful production process was desired, one that would offer faster and more precise delivery and optimise ancillary activities such as colour changes and logistics.
How we built it
We installed a modern fully automated powder coating line with equipment from the Swiss manufacturer Gema, where the preparation of parts, i.e. degreasing, takes place as part of the same process as coating. The gas-heated five-stage washing tunnel ensures excellent coating durability, the coating itself takes place in a cylindrical plastic cabin, and safety is ensured by a CO2 extinguishing system. The entire line is controlled by a unified control system, which automatically keeps the process running with a smaller number of operators and carries out component dosing, pH and conductivity control automatically.
- Maximum product dimensions: 1600 x 500 x 3000 mm
- Maximum product weight: up to 200 kg
- Monorail conveyor length: 230 metres
- Gema powder centre with 12 coating guns, the most modern pump-based solution
- Five-stage gas-heated washing tunnel for degreasing
- CO2 extinguishing system to ensure safety
- Aabo-Ideal oven
What we achieved
- At least three times shorter lead times for customers thanks to the automated process
- C4-level coating durability when assessed at liquid coating levels
- A wider range of coatable products, including work that was not possible on the previous line
- A unified control system that reduces the number of operators required
- Automatic dosing and pH and conductivity control, ensuring consistent quality and thoughtful material usage
- By Estonian standards, a highly modern and large-scale solution that makes it possible to offer a service at an international level

"Power&Free" conveyor fully automatic powder coating line
A modern powder coating line was designed and installed for Torm Metall OÜ, enabling the washing and coating of products with dimensions of 4500 x 1000 x 1800 mm. The solution included a chamber-based 7-stage washing line with separate cabins for ferrous metal and aluminium, a combi oven, and a fully automatic "Power&Free" conveyor system. In the combi oven, the residual temperature of the curing oven is utilised in the drying oven, which increases energy efficiency.
Investment in a New Automated Powder Coating Line
We designed and installed a fully automatic powder coating line for Tammer, complete with an Aabo-Ideal gas- and electric-heated curing oven and a Gema paint booth operating 16 automatic guns. The monorail conveyor has a load capacity of 100 kg per metre. In addition, we built out the compressed air and ventilation lines. The entire installation was completed in May 2023, having started already before Midsummer.
Powder Coating Automatic Line with Power&Free Conveyor
For Sami AS, for whom we built a two-chamber liquid painting line in 2020, we established an automatic powder coating line as part of a production expansion. The solution includes a Power&Free conveyor and a tunnel-type washing automatic line that enables production analysis and future expansion. The equipment is sourced from reliable manufacturers Gema AG, Aabo-Ideal and Hjort-Conveyor.
