Semi-automatic wet painting line for the new production building

We installed a liquid paint line for painting openings' fillers in Saku Metall's new production building, based on a semi-automatic conveyor system with a lifting section of up to 500 kg and 20 booms (spacing 350 mm). The water-heated ventilation units of the paint room and drying tunnel are heated by an autonomous gas boiler, and the entire line is controlled by a Siemens touchscreen control panel. Safety is ensured by solvent sensors, which automatically activate the ventilation, as well as Atex zone 1 luminaires. Two GRACO Merkur 48:1 high-pressure paint pumps were installed for painting.

Frequently asked questions

How heavy products can this conveyor system handle?
The semi-automatic conveyor's lifting section can hang heavy products up to 500 kg. This allows even massive openings to be processed.
How many booms are on the conveyor and what is the distance between them?
The conveyor has 20 booms. The distance between them is 350 mm.
What painting equipment is used on the line?
The line uses two GRACO Merkur high-pressure paint pumps with a 48:1 pressure ratio. A G40 RAC gun with FFLP nozzles is used.
How is a safe working environment ensured?
Solvent sensors in the paint room, drying tunnel and paint storage automatically activate ventilation when elevated ppm levels are detected. Additionally, Atex zone 1 lights with glass covers that can be cleaned with solvent are used.
Is the system expandable in the future?
Yes, the automatic pushing mechanism in the drying tunnel is expandable across the entire drying area. This leaves room for production growth.

We designed and built a completely new paint room ventilation solution for a metal industry client and upgraded the existing drying room. We used CIC Ex equipment and Konwektor fans suitable for explosive environments, and replaced the ventilation unit with a plate heat exchanger solution that improves heat recovery and reduces energy consumption. We added solvent sensors, compressed air meters, heat meters, and new automation with remote management capability. The result is a reliable, modern, and energy-efficient system that meets all applicable safety and working condition requirements.

Liquid Coating Line for the New Factory in Saue

We designed a complete liquid painting line for the new production building of the machine-building company Sami AS. The solution included two paint booths with water-heated heat exchangers, providing air exchange of 10,000 m³/h per booth, a washing booth with a Husqvarna pressure washer, and a motorized monorail conveyor with a load capacity of 16,000 kg. The line was complemented by control automation with solvent sensors, a 2K electronic mixing dosing unit, and two GRACO electrostatic spray guns.
