Metal pre-wash systems

Pre-washing is the basis for quality in powder coating. If the surface of the part is not properly cleaned of grease, oxides, salt residues and dust, the powder coating will fail and the coating may be uneven, poorly tacky or have a short life. A properly designed pre-wash system will ensure a clean, activated surface prepared for corrosion resistance for every detail.

Why is proper pre-washing important?

Chamber-type wash cubicles

  • Suitable for small-scale production, prototypes and separate manual production.
  • Separate baths for each process step (degreasing, rinsing, conversion, final rinsing).

Wash Tunnels (Continuous Spray Tunnels)

  • The heart of a continuous production line - parts hanging on a conveyor go through several washing zones in a row.
  • Typical zones: degreasing → rinsing → conversion cover → demineralised water rinsing → drying.
  • The most efficient and highest quality solution for high volume production.
  • Multi-zone configurations - 3-, 5-, 7-zone systems as required.

Choice of chemistry and conversion coverage

Aabo-Ideal washing systems are suitable for all modern detergents and conversion coatings:

  • Zinc phosphate - traditional, very good corrosion resistance.
  • Rough phosphate - a simple and affordable solution for standard applications.
  • Zirconium conversion (Zr) - modern, environmentally friendly, low energy consumption (at room temperature).
