Lihvlauad ja äratõmbeseinad on mõeldud lihvimis-, lõikamis-, poleerimis- ja liimistöödel tekkiva tolmu ning aurude tõhusaks eemaldamiseks tööpiirkonnast. Äratõmbega lihvlaua või -seina kasutamine hoiab ära tolmu levimise tootmiskeskkonda, tagades töötajatele ohutuma töötingimuse ja puhtama õhu.
Lihvlauad sobivad eriti hästi puidutöötlemisel, kus laual saab teha liimimis-, lihvimis-, poleerimis- või käsitsi lõikamistöid. Äratõmbeseinad paigaldatakse seinale ja need on kohandatavad erinevatele tööpiirkondadele.
