Threod Systems workshop aspiration

Client

Location

Threod Systems is a developer and manufacturer of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), covering both fixed and VTOL Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), electro-optical payloads for reconnaissance and surveillance applications, as well as a range of other critical subsystems required for the successful operation of UAVs.

Purpose

Ensure efficient dust removal when processing fibre-reinforced plastic parts, both manually and with CNC machine tools. Optimise the automatic operation of the filtration system based on machine signals, improving process efficiency and reducing energy consumption.

Challenges of the project:

The following factors had to be taken into account in the design and calculations:

- The materials are processed in two adjacent rooms, where the work is carried out at different times and for different cycle lengths.
- The limited space available made it necessary to develop a compact and space-saving filtration solution that would not compromise productivity and performance.

Solution

As a solution, a system was introduced where air exchange takes place according to a set constant pressure. Based on signals from the CNC benches, the appropriate valves in the piping are opened automatically, ensuring the stability of the negative pressure regardless of the number of machines in operation. As a result, dust extraction is always at maximum efficiency and energy efficiency is always achieved.

For the project, we used a GramCleanAir filter from the Danish manufacturer GramCleanAir's FL series, which was chosen as the ideal solution due to its wide range of applications and reliability.

Efficient de-dusting for glass plastic production

Purpose

Prior to the technological innovation, dust removal in production was organised in such a way that each piece of equipment had its own filtering device, which could not guarantee a completely clean working environment. With the addition of each new bench, the necessary extraction became more and more inadequate.

Solution

Elister developed the solution by creating a central system with automation and pressure control in the production facility. Now all the equipment is connected to a single GRAM ACF type a filter unit with a sufficient margin to add working surfaces if necessary. This made the environment clean and the extraction efficient. The system was set up with a certain margin to allow for upgrading and adding equipment if necessary.

The quarrying process for dust collection

Client

Made

Location

Wienerberger AS, with its offices in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, is part of the Wienerberger Group, the world's largest producer of ceramic building blocks, bricks and the largest producer of ceramic roof tiles in Europe. The Group operates in 27 countries, with 217 plants and a workforce of more than 19 000 people.

REFERENCE

Wienerberger turned to Elister to find a solution to two dust collection problems related to the production process. We brought to the client's attention a recent Mira Building Materials project success story that highlighted our knowledge and skills, and as a result the client had confidence in us.

SOURCE

The first task was to set up a dust collection filter system for the clay press machine, as the mixing of raw material with sand created dust that spread throughout the production area.

To do this, we designed a special dust hood and used a GramCleanAir ACF type cyclone filter.

Another concern for the client was the cleaning of the production transport wagons, for which a convenient solution was needed. For this purpose, we used the GramCleanAir HFU industrial vacuum blower with additional cyclone. For the transport of residues, we used an aspiration piping with a collapsible hose reel.

Wienerberger and Elister have worked together to find efficient and practical solutions to the problems of dust collection and transport cleaning. Thanks to our skills and experience, we are able to help companies improve their production processes and create a better working environment.

Viking Motors car wash gets heat exchange ventilation

Client

Viking Motors

Made

2022

Location

Tallinn

Viking Motors, a well-known car dealer in Estonia, wanted to improve the ventilation in its car wash in Ülemiste. The main problem was the fog caused by high humidity and cold during cold weather, and maintaining the overall temperature and ventilation in the washrooms.

The new solution offered had to be heat-cooled and efficient. In addition, proper ventilation will help to dry out a very humid room and thus not have a devastating effect on the building.

As a solution, we built a plate heat exchanger ventilation system where both washrooms could be controlled separately. All the extracted air passes through an OUF centrifugal liquid separator before the ventilation unit, which reduces the moisture and liquid content in the extracted air. This, in turn, reduces the risk of freezing in winter when it is freezing cold outside.

All the automation and its logic was custom-designed for this laundry. The automation of the system also avoids human error, where idle times when no work is taking place could occur.

Mira Ehitusmaterjalide OÜ is a well-known manufacturer and distributor of construction mixes, with one of its production plants located in Saue. In 2022, we received an enquiry for dust removal for an automatic and manual line for packaging mixes.

We used Gram Clean Air, a Danish manufacturer, for the dust collection. ACF type cyclone filter, which guarantees a longer lifetime for the filter elements, and we built a central residue collection pipework with the necessary retrieval arms, which can be moved around the workplace with little effort.

Cooling system with a capacity of 600 kW for the production of Dagoplast

Client

Dagoplast

Made

2022

Location

Hiiumaa

Dagöplast AS is a manufacturer of biodegradable and polyethylene films committed to environmentally friendly production methods and products, which is why they place great emphasis on compostable, biodegradable and recycled materials. Since 1998, Dagoplast has been an important film producer in Europe with a reputation for innovation and quality!

In the autumn of 2021, we were invited to participate in a public procurement to upgrade the cooling system of Dagoplast's extruders. The tender included a turnkey solution for everything the project required - i.e. automation-controlled cooling units for all machines, installation of new equipment, insulation, start-up and training.

As the volume of the work was large, it took quite some time to complete all the work and it was nice to keep up with the activities in Hiiumaa in the meantime. However, it was a pleasure when the client was satisfied with the work and trusted us to carry out additional pipeline works.

Stera Technologies is an international technology company. The company employs more than 850 highly skilled professionals in six different locations in Finland and Estonia.

In 2021, Stera Technologies launched a call for tenders for a system for dosing multicomponent substances, including installation and training. The ultimate goal of the equipment was to reduce the time spent on secondary activities in the paint shop and allow for a reduction in production time previously spent moving from one colour shade to another, as well as automating the entire finishing process.

We installed in STERA production facilities Graco 2Ks a multicomponent mixing dispenser, fed by Graco mixers located in the paint shop. Mercury by means of paint pumps.

With the introduction of the new system, the company will be able to supply dyes in a larger volume and thereby reduce its central footprint.

In summary, the project installed:

  • GRACO 2KS with the necessary material and air ducts
  • 6 substance pumps for colours
  • 2 substance pumps for hardening
  • 3 pneumatic mixers for a 200 litre container
