In 2020, we installed a 3K system on the finishing line of Arens AS, a well-known furniture manufacturer. Within six months, it was clear to the company's management that the investment in an automated dispensing system had paid off, and we started negotiations to automate the finishing systems in the craft workshops.
Management continued to be adamant that the system must have 3K (three components - dye, hardener and viscosity control solution) capability.
Unlike an automatic line solution, a hand-finishing system is specific and needs to operate with smaller quantities and to cope with continuous colour changes during the day. It was also important for the project to have the possibility to expand the system if desired.
In the hand-finishing room of Arens AS, we installed a GRACO 3KS with 3 pumps, of which only 25 cc is the capacity for component A, to ensure that the next shade can be prepared during the work or the basic shades can be kept ready for use at all times. In addition to the precise mixing, the assured quality and the time saved on mixing, it is also possible to make accurate use of the quantities of paint, as there is no residue left over after mixing, and to have an accurate overview of the amount of material used for the job.
In addition, the system has the great advantage of automatically extending the number of ready-to-use shades in the system up to 30 shades.
