Tarmetec is a Tartu-based company founded in 1992, which has been operating for almost 30 years. The metalworking company manufactures stainless steel equipment for the medical and food industries, as well as a range of tools and parts for commercial vehicles.
In 2020, Tarmetec wanted to acquire a new production hall for its new welding and ventilation system. It was a challenging project because, in addition to a rather complex baseline, the systems had to be automated and connected to the smart house system. Elister OÜ was chosen to carry out the work.
Elister OÜ installed a new ventilation solution with different diameters. 556 metres of pipelines. The air is moved up to 62000 cubic metres per hour, which ensures that the fumes generated during the production process are filtered and purified and that workers are guaranteed fresh air in the production area. Three different systems were set up in the production hall - the welding ventilation for the robot welding area, the welding ventilation for the manual welding area and the general ventilation for the production hall.
Clean air and energy savings through automation were the watchwords for all systems. Systems automatically start and stop according to whether or not there is welding activity in the designated area. Thanks to this, there is no need to fear that equipment will be left running or that someone will be working without starting up the equipment. Any welding contamination that is generated can be filtered out automatically when welding is started. To ensure that workers in the shop floor have access to clean oxygen at the right temperature, a rotor heat exchanger ventilation system with heat recovery was installed.
All systems are in turn connected to the building's smart house solution, which informs in the event of a disruption and allows changes to work procedures to be made remotely.
