Helland Baltic, a Norwegian company based near Haapsalu and one of the TOP in the Estonian furniture industry. Already at the end of 2017, we started negotiations for their possible new paint line in an industrial building in Hapval. However, after some sketches there was some silence. In the first half of 2019, the topic became topical again, and at the beginning of the summer we were happy to build a paint line with three paint booths and a drying tunnel.itada. There was a lot involved, and while all the rest of the paint line was new, the conveyor had to be rebuilt from a system that was already in operation.

Made

In Helland, we built three energy-efficient water-heated paint booths based on plate heat exchangers, each with autonomous control. The operation of each paint booth is monitored by a solvent sensor and the load capacity of the filters is monitored by a pressure differential control, which then signals the filter change at the right moment.

Two of the three finishing booths are connected to a conveyor and a drying tunnel, and one finishing booth is built as a stand-alone with a separate drying room. The temperatures in the drying rooms can be set between +35C ... +50C degrees.

All management is done from a single touchscreen panel, where it is also possible to see the parameters of the whole system, as well as trends from what has been happening in the past. For safety, the system has, as usual, an anti-freeze sensor and an AT block.

All equipment in the project has ATEX certificates.

New finishing techniques

For finishing, the customer received a new GRACO Merkur 30:1 pressure ratio, 25-cubic finishing pump kit for each booth, with the well-known G40 air-operated spray gun. This is the most popular model, allowing the use of higher viscosity materials and, thanks to its small cubic capacity, fast material changes.
