Automated door painting line - Viljandi Aken ja Uks

Puidutööstuse värviliini üldvaade Elister OÜ projektist

Made

2026

A fully automated door paint line where every step - from loading to packaging - is automated, traceable and data-driven. Two CMA painting robots, RFID-based product tracking, Graco dispensing systems and a Power & Free conveyor combine to form a whole where quality, speed and flexibility are combined with full traceability.

How it all started

Big projects often start with small questions. And so it is this time. In May 2025, a chance conversation revealed that Viljandi Aken ja Uks had been looking for a solution for a new paint line for some time, but had not found a final partner. A simple question: „Why haven't you asked us?“. opened the door - Elister was given the opportunity to submit its offer, which proved to be suitable for the client's needs and led to a deal.

The summer was spent planning and designing, after which the practical work began around Christmas - preparing the site and dismantling the old systems and installing the new line. From that moment, the idea became a reality.

For Elister OÜ, this was the first project of this scale where the entire responsibility - design, procurement coordination, logistics and execution - was entirely on the shoulders of one partner.

Solution

An all-in-one solution that combines quality, speed, flexibility and full traceability:

Loading and conveyor: vacuum lifters for safe door hanging and a Power & Free conveyor that coordinates up to 500 product movements simultaneously.

RFID product identification: each door is equipped with an RFID sticker that allows the system to know the location, colour and recipe of the product at any moment. Separate low-frequency chips are used on the booms to avoid signal mixing.

Automatic cleaning: de-ionisation, compressed air purification and aspiration - the unit automatically adapts to the dimensions of each door.

Colouring books: three Graco Duro-Flo pumps for base materials and Merkur series pumps for speciality materials. Two special colour pumps for each robot - cycle time 2 minutes.

Painting robots: two CMA robots working independently - simultaneously with different shades and substances. Four Graco ProMix 3KS 3-component mixing systems (2 for robots + 2 for hand booths).

Flash-off, drying, after-buffer: controlled solvent evaporation, drying tunnel up to +60 °C (air circulation up to 60 000 m³/h) and uniform cooling before packaging.

Automation and data: four Siemens HMI control panels, a mobile tablet, cameras and information screens. Each door produced has a digital passport.

Safety: ATEX Directive requirements, solvent, temperature and humidity sensors in the control circuit and STS fire detection system in the paint booths.
